The Financial Accountant will play a key role in providing financial insights and analysis to support decision-making within the retail industry. This position is based in Mulgrave and offers a permanent opportunity to work in a fast-paced accounting and finance department.

Description

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Execute month-end close activities, including journal postings, payroll accruals, and fixed asset reconciliations; support monthly and statutory reporting.
• Conduct detailed P&L, margin, and expense trend analysis to support business unit performance and decision-making.
• Monitor and manage debtors, creditors, and inventory balances to ensure effective cash flow control.
• Maintain internal controls, prepare tax returns (FBT, GST), support audits, and escalate risks or control gaps.
• Drive enhancements in accounting systems, reporting accuracy, and reconciliation efficiency through automation and BI tools.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, scenario analysis, and capital planning to guide strategic decisions.
• Partner with managers to deliver financial insights, support team initiatives, and foster professional growth

Profile

To be successful in this role you MUST have:

• A degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
• CA / CPA Qualified
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills within a financial context.
• Proficiency in financial modelling and advanced Excel skills.
• Experience in providing financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
• Attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement
