Project Administrator – Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council

Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council is seeking an experienced Project Administrator to support the successful delivery of our capital works and infrastructure projects. This is a hands-on role where you’ll help shape the future of our community through strong project governance, asset planning, and collaboration.

About the Role

You’ll work closely with the Projects Director to lead project control systems, asset lifecycle planning, and governance frameworks. Your work will help ensure Council’s infrastructure assets are well-planned, sustainable, and compliant with Local Government Act requirements.

Day to day, you’ll:

Manage project controls, including risk, audit, performance and reporting

Develop and maintain asset management plans and renewal schedules

Support procurement, cost forecasting and budget tracking

Coordinate across departments and with contractors to ensure timely project delivery

Provide clear, data-driven reports to support executive decision-making

About You

You bring:

Proven experience in project controls, asset management, or infrastructure project delivery

Strong understanding of governance frameworks, risk, and compliance systems

Excellent communication and coordination skills

Cultural awareness and the ability to work respectfully in an Aboriginal community context

Qualifications:

Degree in project management, engineering, or asset management (or equivalent experience)

Project management certification (e.g. PMP or similar)

Construction White Card & current Queensland “C” Class driver’s licence

Desirable:

Local Government or remote infrastructure experience

Familiarity with project and asset management software
