A permanent part-time (2 days a week) position in the Collections team has become available at Supreme Court Library Queensland (SCLQ) to assist with the maintenance, management, curation, preservation and discovery of the library’s legal heritage and rare books collection.

The Legal Heritage Support Officer reports to the Legal Heritage Collection Manager and assists with the maintenance, management, curation, preservation and discovery of the library’s legal heritage and rare books collection, facilitating access to the collection and undertaking research for exhibitions and displays of heritage items.
Responsibilities
Play a key role in managing and maintaining the recording of legal heritage collections including arrangement and description, cataloguing, and locations control
Provide research support for projects including exhibitions and collection displays
Assist with the development of the library’s digital legal heritage collection through the creation of access and preservation quality digital material
Assist with activities to manage and improve the library’s physical legal heritage collection by applying museum collection management methods and processes
Maintain appropriate systems, policies and procedures that support best practice heritage collections management
Manage storage of heritage material and undertake basic preventive conservation tasks
Assist with condition reports and appraisals
Identify initiatives to improve customer experience and engagement with the legal heritage collections, including online exhibitions and events
Process and manage incoming and outgoing loans in accordance with museum best practice
Proactively manage personal workload and competing priorities
Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, including identifying potential efficiencies and enhancements in collection management and information services functions
This is a flexible and family friendly position with competitive remuneration: $72,127 to $91,525 full time annual salary (pro rata for part-time) depending on skills and experience, plus leave loading and superannuation.
