Role: Mechanical Fitter

Contract Type: Permanent Full Time

Starting Date & Probation period: October 2025, 6 months’ probation period

Ordinary Hours of Work:38 hours/week, some additional hours as required

Monday to Friday, on occasions weekend work may be required.

Renumeration: In accordance with industry standards and based on experience from

$105,000 to $110,000 per annum plus Superannuation

Primary Purpose & Responsibilities of Position

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Skills

Ability to fit and assemble equipment parts, tools or sub-assemblies to specifications / drawings to the required high standard

Knowledge of and experience with installing, commissioning and maintaining hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Safe operation of various workshop machines whilst adhering to standard operating procedures (SOPs)

Ability to machining and fabrication, cutting and welding of general steel items, pipes, etc.

Ability to work with stainless steel, composite and other materials

Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications to plan and execute the work

Ability to conduct maintenance on faulty equipment and tools

Check accuracy and quality of finished parts, tools, or sub- assemblies.

Proactively supporting a clean and safe working environment

Ensuring that tools, equipment and consumables are effectively managed to support productivity (i.e. storage, maintaining, reporting damage and shortages)

Adherence to approved test procedures to support quality goals.

Participate in in-house design reviews and root cause analysis (RCA) of faulty components, assemblies, or systems.

Prototyping and Testing:

Support the testing, trouble shooting and commissioning of the Envirocart system with the objective to improve reliability, constructability and maintainability whilst ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Materials Selection:

Work with the engineering team to select appropriate materials for subsea applications, considering factors such as corrosion resistance, strength, and durability in extreme conditions

Subsea Systems Integration:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical components / systems with electrical / control systems, ensuring they function seamlessly and efficiently.

Innovation and Research:

Support R&D activities and contributing to the company's innovation efforts. Identify and evaluate opportunities for technological advancements and cost savings.

Continuous Improvement.:

Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering environment to enhance constructability, reliability, maintainability, cost efficiency, quality and safety.

Documentation:

Support the maintenance of engineering documentation through adherence to the engineering change management procedure. Update drawings and specifications to as-built status when changes are made

Collaboration:

Collaborate with multidisciplinary integrated teams which includes clients, consultants. and specialist contractor / supplier to deliver reliable, fit-for- purpose solutions which are safe and cost efficient.

Required Qualifications & Technical Competencies

Educational Background:

Trade qualification required, Mechanical Fitter, Fitter and Turner, Machinist or Marine Fitter Engineer.

Professional Experience:

Proven experience (i.e.minimum 10years preferred) in assembly, testing, commissioning and repair of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Marine experience would be considered as an advantage.

Additional Skills & Requirements

Drivers license

Forklift license would be considered as an advantage

Strong organisational and problem-solving skills

Ability to work in a team, under supervision and independently

Ability to work in fast moving ambiguous environment

Ability to contribute to constant improvement initiatives as the company transitions from R&D to commercialisation

Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment

Good communication abilities

Good time management skills

Good conflict resolution skills

Willingness and ability to travel locally and internationally if required
