About the role

We’re on the lookout for an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join our team at The Vic Hotel Footscray, proudly serving the West.

As Sous Chef, you’ll work closely with our Head Chef to run the day-to-day kitchen operations and help deliver great food and memorable dining experiences for our guests. This is a full-time role based in Footscray, VIC 3011.

What you'll be doing

Supporting the Head Chef with menu planning, recipe development and food cost management

Overseeing prep, cooking and plating to make sure every dish hits the mark

Maintaining top-notch food safety and hygiene standards

Leading and mentoring the kitchen team, helping them grow and stay motivated

Working closely with the Front of House team to keep service smooth

Always looking for ways to improve how we work and lift the overall standard

What we're looking for

3–5 years’ experience as a Sous Chef (or similar) in a busy, high-volume venue

Strong cooking skills and a love for creating fresh, flavoursome dishes

Great time management and problem-solving skills

A positive leader who knows how to get the best out of their team

Solid understanding of kitchen operations and food safety standards

A creative edge and passion for seasonal, high-quality ingredients
