About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the dynamic kitchen team at The Doorman Systems' as a Sous Chef. As a full-time Sous Chef based in our Melbourne CBD location, you will play a key role in supporting the Head Chef in the day-to-day operations of the function kitchen and contributing to the delivery of an exceptional dining experience for our customers.

What you'll be doing

Assisting the Head Chef in menu planning, food preparation, and kitchen operations to ensure consistent, high-quality food delivery

Supervising and coordinating the work of kitchen staff, including line cooks, to maintain efficient workflow and high standards

Ensuring compliance with all food safety and hygiene regulations

Contributing to the training and development of kitchen staff to enhance their skills and knowledge

Participating in inventory management and ordering of supplies to maintain appropriate stock levels

Collaborating with the front-of-house team to ensure seamless service and a positive customer experience

What we're looking for

Minimum 2-3 years' experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar senior culinary role within a busy, high-volume restaurant or function operations

Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, menu development, and kitchen management

Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure

Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop kitchen staff

Passion for creating innovative, delicious dishes and a commitment to using fresh, high-quality ingredients

Food safety and hygiene certifications are essential
