Women’s Safety Services of Central Australia (WoSSCA), formerly the Alice Springs Women’s Shelter, has been a cornerstone of support for women and children since 1975. Born from grassroots activism and community care, WoSSCA has grown from a volunteer-run centre into a leading specialist service committed to safety, empowerment, and cultural respect. As we continue to evolve and strengthen our services, we invite passionate, values-driven professionals to be part of our journey, helping shape a safer, more inclusive future for women and children across Central Australia.

Who we are:

Women’s Safety Services of Central Australia (WoSSCA) is a specialist Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Service that operates on a feminist framework. We work with women and their children experiencing domestic, family and sexual violence to support their safety needs and goals.

WoSSCA provides a range of specialist case management services which includes 24-hour Crisis Accommodation, Outreach, Court Support, Men’s Behaviour Change Partner Contact, Co-responder functions and Community Development and Training.

We are committed to organisational sustainability by investing in our people, building our workforce and embedding a strong and inclusive workplace culture.

The Roles:

We are now recruiting for a Case Worker and a Senior Case Worker in our Crisis Accommodation Service (CAS).

Case Worker

This role is pivotal in providing a safe and trauma-informed environment for women and children accessing the service. The focus of the position is to provide intake, assessment, safety planning and case management support as well as facilitating access to a range of specialist services while enhancing the safety of women accessing WoSSCA.

Senior Case Worker

The Senior Case Worker is responsible for ensuring consistent and quality service provision across each shift in the Crisis Accommodation Service. The Senior Case Worker provides leadership across a 24-hour service by participating in a fortnightly roster of day shifts, evening shifts and active night shifts and leading holistic, specialist case work underpinned by the WoSSCA Good Practice Framework and ensuring compliance with WoSSCA policies and procedures.

What You’ll Bring:

The ideal candidates for both roles will bring a strong understanding of domestic, family and sexual violence, along with experience in related fields such as hospitals, community services, youth work, or mental health. You will demonstrate cultural competency, particularly in working respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds. Strong interpersonal skills, including active listening and the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues, are essential. The role also requires the ability to collaborate with external stakeholders such as police, hospitals, and local service providers. Furthermore, you will be proficient in maintaining accurate case notes and working within case management systems.

Who We’re Looking For:

The successful candidate will be a collaborative team player who actively supports colleagues and contributes positively to a shared work environment. You will demonstrate curiosity and a commitment to ongoing learning, engaging openly in two-way feedback to strengthen practice and team cohesion. Working within professional boundaries are essential, and a genuine willingness to adapt, connect, and grow within a culturally diverse and remote context is key to thriving in this role.

What We Provide:

You will join a values driven organisation that is committed to shaping safer futures for women and children in central Australia. We invest in our people, and you will receive comprehensive training and professional development throughout your employment. You will have the opportunity to participate in training such as Fundamentals of Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence, Risk Assessment and Management Framework (RAMF), Case Management, Aboriginal Cultural Awareness, Trauma Informed Practice, Mandatory Reporting and much more.

You will receive a competitive base salary with additional salary packaging benefits and 12% superannuation. You will also receive 6 weeks annual leave to explore Alice Springs and Central Australia.

If you would like to make a meaningful impact, we encourage you to bring your skills, passion and purpose to WoSSCA.

Please visit the WoSSCA website www.wossca.org.au to view comprehensive position descriptions for each role.
