Several full time ongoing and fixed vacancies are available
Apply your practical skills and tertiary qualifications in Social Work and make a positive difference to the lives of children and their families.
The Department of Children and Families (DCF) is a multi-functional human services and community-focused agency that works to provide responsive, safe and quality services and programs that empower communities and improve social outcomes for all Territorians.
As a frontline Child Protection Practitioner/Senior Child Protection Practitioner (P1/P2) you form part of a dedicated team of professionals delivering integrated statutory and non-statutory welfare services to vulnerable children and families. Depending upon your professional experience your duties may include assessing individual, family and community issues, applying appropriate methods of intervention, delivering case work and case management services, undertaking statutory responsibilities and exercising delegations under the Care and Protection of Children Act.
To be successful, it is essential you have completed a tertiary qualification which gives eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, Australian Community Workers Association or the Australian Psychological Society or equivalent. Your strong understanding of the principles and functions of delivering statutory and non-statutory welfare services, conducting strength-based assessments, developing and delivering effective interventions, and demonstrated capacity to interpret and apply complex legislation will contribute to your success in the role. In addition, you will have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, family and community structures, with the ability to communicate and work in a culturally safe manner.
In return, you will be rewarded with an attractive remuneration package including 12% Superannuation, 6 weeks recreational and 3 weeks personal leave, additional 3 days paid leave over Christmas, 17.5% annual leave allowance, generous market and retention allowances, support to grow and develop your career, and the unique opportunity to experience the variety of work. Nhulunbuy placed staff will also receive free housing and remote entitlements
If you reside outside the territory, this is a great time to consider relocating to the Top End and Arnhem region and relocation assistance may be available.
Working in the region you may be based in Nhulunbuy or Darwin and experience the opportunities to travel across the region.
This is your chance to make a real difference to the lives of Territorians, both young and young at heart and experience an array of what the NT has to offer, including a rich-multi-cultural society and unique communities.
