POSITION: FARM HAND

We are looking for a full-time farm hand to join our small team. If you are keen to work within the agriculture sector, learn new skills and are physically fit – we’d love to hear from you!

Red Crest Farms is a family owned broiler farm, located under 1hour from Adelaide, at Monarto SA. We have extensive experience in the industry and pride ourselves on attention to detail and quality growing practices, consistently placing as a top grower with 13 sheds for Ingham’s. Your remuneration will be paid above the award at a level suited to your skills and experience.

JOB TASKS + RESPONSIBILITIES:

We are looking for a person who can demonstrate the following qualities:

Assisting with all aspects of the farming enterprise (all areas of caring for the chickens, general farm work e.g. repairs and maintenance of equipment and machinery, grounds keeping etc)

Working safely in the farm environment + adhering to OHS standards

Following company policies + procedures (including from Ingham’s and RSPCA etc)

Ensuring biosecurity is met to a high standard (this requires the employee to not keep birds or pigs at their home)

Work is rostered from Mo-Fri includes every second Saturday morning

Some out of hours work is required during busy periods (e.g. when chickens come in and out of the farm)

SKILLS + EXPERIENCE:

SKILLS

Driver’s license essential

Physically fit and positive attitude

Good attitude towards learning and willingness to succeed

Interest in animals, particularly chickens + caring for them

Self-motivated, reliable + flexible

Ability to use initiative

Good communication skills

Good time management + organisational skills

Ability to work well within a team

Ability to operate machinery, or willingness to learn (e.g. tractors)

Enjoys working outside within the agricultural sector

Good observational skills

EXPERIENCE

Nil formal required – if you are interested in a diverse and secure role, and have a willingness to learn we are more than happy to train you in the position

KNOWLEDGE

Nil formal required

Desirable: basic understanding of broiler operations, some mechanical/farm maintenance understanding
