Our client is a progressive, large-scale, family-owned dairy business located near Mount Gambier, South Australia. We milk over 2,700 cows across multiple sites and are committed to efficient, sustainable dairy production with a strong focus on animal welfare, staff development, continuous improvement, and growth.

About the role

We are seeking a Calf Rearer / Senior Dairy Hand to join our team. This is a full-time, ongoing role reporting to the Farm Manager and working closely with the Farm 2IC.

Responsibilities

Feeding and monitoring calves and young stock

Observing and reporting animal health and welfare issues

Supporting herd health programs, treatments, and vaccinations

Assisting with daily dairy operations (milking, feeding, irrigation as required)

Accurate record keeping of calf growth, health checks, treatments, and feeding schedules

Maintaining high standards of hygiene, safety, and efficiency

Working as part of a positive, collaborative team environment

Education / Experience / Skills

Demonstrated experience in calf rearing and/or senior dairy hand roles

Practical knowledge of animal husbandry and dairy production practices

Strong attention to detail, efficiency, and animal welfare

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Good organisational and communication skills

Commitment to continuous improvement and learning

Current driver’s licence (advantageous if combined with heavy machinery licence)
