About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Counsellor to join our team. This position can be part-time or full-time, depending on the availability of the successful applicant.

The Counsellor will provide therapeutic support to children, young people, and families impacted by trauma, grief, domestic and family violence, and homelessness. The role will work across different programs within the organization, ensuring that counselling support is accessible and responsive to client needs in various service areas.

Key Responsibilities

Provide individual and group counselling sessions to children, young people, and/or families.

Apply trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches in therapeutic practice.

Develop and implement tailored support plans in collaboration with clients and case workers.

Maintain accurate records, assessments, and progress notes in line with organizational policies.

Contribute to a supportive, culturally safe, and client-centered service environment.

Work collaboratively with internal staff, schools, health providers, and community organizations.

About You

Tertiary qualification in counselling, psychology, social work, or related discipline.

Experience providing counselling to children, young people, or families.

Understanding of trauma, grief and loss, and the impacts of domestic and family violence.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Current Working With Children Check and Police Check (or willingness to obtain).

Commitment to cultural safety and working effectively with Aboriginal children, families, and communities.

Flexible part-time or full-time options.

Salary: $85,000-$90,000 per annum (pro rata for part-time) including superannuation, plus salary packaging.
