Cable & Pipe Locations is a well-established company based in Northern NSW, with over 15 years of experience in the general building and civil construction industry. We are currently seeking a dedicated and motivated Underground Service Locator to join our busy and growing team.

About the Role:
As an Underground Service Locator, you will collaborate closely with our Vacuum Excavation Division, CCTV team, and office staff, while also liaising with client representatives. Your responsibilities will include conducting underground service location assessments, utility surveying, and producing accurate mapping and reporting.

We’re looking for a results-driven professional with strong attention to detail and a passion for precision in identifying underground site assets.

Qualifications & Experience:

Ability to read and interpret Dial Before You Dig plans

DBYD Certification (highly desirable)

Minimum three (3) years of demonstrated experience as an underground service locator

Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise with clients and project stakeholders

Physical capability to undertake tasks such as accessing pits and potholing

Experience identifying types of services/utilities and providers

Driver’s License (C Class minimum), MR class an advantage

PC literacy (ability to use phones, iPads, tablets, and laptops)

First Aid Certificate (preferred but not essential)

White Card

Current Highway Upgrade site inductions (preferred but not essential)

Current Police Check (preferred)

Tasks & Responsibilities:

Conduct asset investigations using Dial Before You Dig plans

Operate Electronic Service Locating equipment and Ground Penetration Radar (GPR) to identify depth, orientation, and position of underground assets

Effectively communicate findings with project managers, construction crews, and clients

Review plans to ensure all data is accurately collected and annotated

Maintain knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in underground utility locating

Keep records, enter data, and provide sketches/instructions as needed

Ability to work autonomously and unsupervised

This role may occasionally require work outside standard hours, including weekends, nights, and short periods away from home.

The daily start and finish times will be primarily based at our Woolgoolga depot. Therefore, it is preferred that applicants reside within a reasonable driving distance from Woolgoolga.
