As a Community Projects Officer, you’ll contribute to programs and services that enhance wellbeing and inclusion across areas such as community development, aged care, disability access and inclusion, children and youth engagement, volunteer coordination, affordable housing, and community facilities. You’ll also support culturally diverse communities through the MOSAIC Multicultural Centre, promote active lifestyles via the Willoughby Leisure Centre, and help deliver community grants that empower local groups. About the Role

As the Community Projects Officer, you will:

Identify and respond to community needs through inclusive development strategies and capacity-building initiatives.

Design, deliver, and evaluate high-quality community programs informed by social research and local priorities.

Represent Council at networking events and partnership meetings to strengthen community connections.

Manage project budgets, grants, and administrative tasks to ensure successful delivery of initiatives.

Identify funding opportunities and prepare compelling submissions to support new programs.

Work with marketing team to enhance visibility, engage with diverse range of community members in development and engagement activities.

What You’ll Bring:

Tertiary qualification in Social Sciences or a related field.

Strong skills in designing and implementing community engagement strategies, including digital tools.

Proven experience in community development and project delivery.

Understanding of issues affecting culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities.

Experience in promoting community initiatives, including through social media.

Knowledge of community needs analysis methods.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong ability to learn, with a proactive approach to suggesting improvements within the organisation.

Desirable:

Knowledge of social planning, impact assessment, and community needs analysis.

Experience in evaluating community programs.
