About the Role
We are seeking an Aboriginal Community Safety Project Officer to deliver a 12-month program funded by the NSW Aboriginal Community Safety Grant Program. This role will focus on supporting Aboriginal children, individuals, women, families, and community members through culturally safe programs and initiatives that strengthen resilience, promote wellbeing, and improve safety outcomes.
This is a one-year program with no extension beyond the contract period.
Key responsibilities include:
Designing and delivering culturally safe community safety initiatives.
Engaging with Aboriginal families, Elders, and community leaders to identify needs and priorities.
Facilitating workshops, outreach, and activities that build connection, resilience, and safety.
Partnering with local agencies to strengthen referral pathways and responses.
Assisting with data collection, reporting, and program evaluation.
About You
We are looking for someone who is passionate about cultural safety, inclusion, and community empowerment.
Essential:
Identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander (a genuine occupational requirement under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977).
Experience in program delivery, community engagement, or support services.
Strong community connections in Dubbo and surrounding areas.
Experience engaging with Aboriginal children, women, families, and communities.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Commitment to cultural safety and trauma-informed practice.
Desirable:
Previous work in community services, youth or family support, or health and wellbeing programs.
Knowledge of issues impacting Aboriginal children, young people, and families.
Basic admin and computer skills.
What We Offer
Salary: $88,000-94,000 p.a. incl. super
Full-time role (9am–5pm, Monday to Friday).
