About the team
We are the Asset Custodian for the City’s stormwater assets totalling over $8.2 billion worth of assets including, but not limited to approximately, 2,800 kilometres of drainage pipe, 250 kilometres of surface drains, 500+ water sensitive urban design (WSUD) assets and 1,200+ gross pollutant traps (GPT’s).
Our stormwater team has substantial experience delivering simple local drainage renewals/fixes to major projects including large culvert crossings, bridges, and significant stormwater network upgrades. Working in this team will provide you mentorship opportunities to improve technical knowledge, learn from specialists in other disciples and grow as an Engineer.
We coordinate and deliver strategic and tactical asset management planning, asset information and data management and contributed asset review and acceptance functions for the Department.
About your new role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Stormwater/Civil Engineer who will contribute their expertise and operate with autonomy and limited direction from management. You will manage the prioritisation of the City’s stormwater renewal programs. In this role you will act the Asset Custodian Representative prioritising asset renewal projects through the planning and concept design phases before transitioning the projects to our delivery team who will see the project through detailed design and construction. This spans assets from our underground stormwater network to culverts and surface drains, as well as addressing safety upgrades with the inclusion of exclusion grates/flaps or fencing.

We're looking for people who have:
• advanced interpersonal skills and a strong customer focus.
• highly developed analytical,problem solving, negotiation and investigative skills to provide sound advice, options and recommendations to influence project outcomes in particular communicating engineering findings and outcomes.
• a Degree of Bachelor of Engineering - Civil and / or equivalent experience in stormwater design.
• 5+ years’ experience in stormwater design / surface water engineering ideally with some experience in delivering programs of work.
• Sound understanding of the following: the City’s Land Development Guidelines, QUDM, Austroads, TMR specifications, ARR19.
• experience in software, ArcGIS, TUFLOW, MUSIC, AutoCAD, 12d, URBS (desired but not essential).
• a commitment to undertake continuing professional development (CPD).
• current Australian C Class unrestricted Driver Licence.
