Disability Support Worker - Make a Difference in Your Community
My Supports
Posted 3 hours ago
My Supports is an organisation led by people with firsthand experience in disability. As a Disability Support Worker, you'll join a vibrant local Neighbourhood Team with a close-knit group of fellow support workers, all led by an experienced Team Leader.
Our Team Leaders offer day-to-day support and guidance, collaborating with you to understand our clients' needs. This approach helps us deliver person-centred, community-inclusive supports.
Our client is seeking a female, energetic support worker, who has experience in dealing with and managing challenging behaviours, following BSP and approved Restrictive Practices and also shares our customer’s interests in music, dancing, crafts, animals(mostly cats), swimming and any other fun activities.
You will need to demonstrate the ability to follow and implement behaviour support strategies and report any incidents or near misses, as well as complete data collection.
HIDPA experience is essential.
Shifts will begin with 6 hours on Saturday with potential increase to 5 days a week.
About You
We are looking for people with a passion for making a difference, regardless of experience. You will bring:
An enthusiastic and friendly outlook.
A compassionate and empathetic demeanour.
Strong listening and communication skills, along with patience.
Excellent relationship-building skills.
The ability to maintain clear professional boundaries.
Experience with personal care or challenging behaviours is beneficial but not required. We encourage individuals with lived experience or a desire to make a positive impact to apply.
Why Join My Supports?
We know that working in remote areas can be challenging, so we strive to make the role as rewarding as possible:
Flexibility & Paid Shifts: If a shift is cancelled within 48 hours and we can't find you another shift, you still get paid.
Higher than award rates –A two-hour shift attracts an average $38.00 – $39.26 rate per hour and we pay a higher sleepover shift allowance too!
Additional Earnings: Kilometre reimbursement, shift penalties for afternoons, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
Complex Care Allowance: Additional pay for working with high-intensity clients.
Career Growth: Ongoing training, professional development, and career advancement within a supportive team.
Work-Life Balance: We value balance and ensure that our support workers have the time they need to maintain their personal lives while providing exceptional care.
