We are Hobart Brewing Co. We're an independent locally owned brewery founded in 2014, filled to the brim with passionate beer drinkers. Over the past decade we've developed a strong reputation for quality beer and you can find our tins and kegs in every corner of Tassie without breaking a sweat. We're continuing to grow and we're looking for a Lead Brewer.
WHO ARE YOU?
You're an experienced Brewer looking for a new challenge with one of Tasmania's biggest independent breweries. You're team focused but also comfortable working solo. You're here to get stuff done well and have a good time doing it.
WHAT'S THE GIG?
The Lead Brewer (LBR) is responsible for wort production and maintaining quality and consistency in all aspects of beer production. The Lead Brewer reports to the Head Brewer (HBR).
Responsibilities
Under the direction of the HBR, production of beer. Including but not limited to;
Mill operation, preparation of grain and other raw ingredients.
Wort production
Fermentation management including recording of gravities, pH, dry hopping etc
Conditioning management in preparation for filtration/transfer.
Filtration/ transferring of beer to Brite vessels
Packaging of finished beer in either keg or can.
Clean in Place (CIP) on Fermentation Vessels (FVs), Brite Beer Tanks (BBTs) and Brewhouse (BH).
Manage storage of raw ingredients and packaging including moving materials to external storage areas.
Ensure the brewery is kept clean
Assist with recipe development
Assist in coolroom operations
Ensure the palletising of kegs or cartons in the coolroom is conducted in a safe manner and are clearly marked.
Monitor trade waste
Support stock management protocols as required, to ensure stock takes and stock movements are accurate and well managed.
Participate in, and contribute to, discussions relating to beer development
Contribute to the continuous improvement feedback on all brewery processes
Contribute to constructive discussion on HBC beers from sensory analysis
Occasionally represent the business at public events, including beer events
Ensure safety is a key focus by;
adhering to all required HBC safety protocols
being constantly aware of existing and/or potential hazards, and taking steps to eradicate risks whenever possible
supporting a company wide safety culture through actions, approach to tasks and forward planning
Other duties may be assigned from time to time by management.
The role of LBR will be responsible for management of the brewery and brewery team when the HBR is away.
Working hours
Full time hours, 5 days per week 38 hrs.
