As the Operations Infrastructure Coordinator you will provide clear and visible leadership and coordination of Banyule's roads, drainage, and infrastructure maintenance services, ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard that enhances community amenity, supports environmental sustainability, and aligns with Council's strategic goals.
This role is part of Banyule's Leadership Network – you'll have opportunities to grow your skills and experience of leadership in a Local Government context and develop your skills as an organisational leader beyond your role-based expertise.

At its heart, this is a people leadership position – you will provide visible, effective leadership across drainage, road, and infrastructure maintenance teams, building a positive, engaged, and high-performing workforce. You will also ensure services are delivered safely and responsibly, with full compliance to the Road Management Plan, OH&S Act 2004, and other legislative and Council requirements. The core aspects the position include:

What you'll bring/what we are looking for:
- Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering (or related discipline) with extensive experience leading the delivery of road infrastructure and drainage maintenance.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a multi-disciplinary workforce, supporting staff performance and development in a positive environment, with an ability to foster teamwork, resolve conflict constructively, and motivate staff to perform at their best.
- Proven experience in managing service delivery, projects, contracts, and budgets.
- Ability to align services with Council's strategic objectives and translate plans into effective operational outcomes.
- Track record in driving continuous improvement and responding flexibly to changing demands.
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear reports and presentations.
- Skilled in negotiation, consultation, and engaging diverse stakeholders to build cooperation and achieve solutions.
What's on offer
- A permanent, full-time position, salary from $127,378.47to $142,362.88 per annum (excluding Super).
- 26 weeks of paid parental leave - primary carer/4 weeks of paid parental leave – partner.
- Flexible work and leave arrangements, with a monthly RDO.

Pre employment requirements:
- Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC).
- Psychometric Assessment.
- Drivers licence.

About Banyule City Council
Banyule is less than 30 minutes travelling time from the CBD and it has an excellent public transport network with the Melbourne-Hurstbridge Railway Line running through it. There are nine railway stations within Banyule offering interesting and varied destinations from Ivanhoe, Eaglemont and Heidelberg in the south, which are nestled in a beautiful section of the Yarra Valley and steeped in history, to the rolling wooded hills of Montmorency in the north.
