The Role
We are seeking a proactive and strategic Maintenance Contract Manager to oversee the management of our Civil Water Maintenance contract and related maintenance activities. This role will be critical in managing yearly budgets, ensuring contract compliance, fostering strong partnerships, and driving continuous improvement initiatives aligned with business goals.

About us
We're on a mission to create a brighter future, where you can be a change maker at the actual source. We're one of Australia's largest water utilities with over 30% of Victoria's population relying on us for their essential water and sanitation services.

Our award-winning culture fosters an inclusive, collaborative, and flexible environment that enables our people to thrive. Here, you'll be inspired and challenged to grow alongside us.

We're committed to reconciliation and supporting the self-determined role for Traditional Owners/Custodians in water and land management.

Your key responsibilities

  • Contract Management:
Lead the management of Civil Water Maintenance and Water Short-term Escalation contracts and provide support for Civil Sewer Maintenance and Hard Surface Reinstatement contracts. Ensure all contract requirements are met and provide operational and strategic support to maintenance partners.
  • Relationship & Stakeholder Management:
Build and maintain positive commercial relationships with our contract partners and internal stakeholders. Facilitate regular meetings with partner operational and field management focusing on contract conformance, KPI performance, cost monitoring, and exemplary customer service.
  • Continuous Improvement & Quality:
Support toolbox meetings and implement overarching contract strategies to meet or exceed performance measures. Collaborate with stakeholders to promote safety, environmental awareness, and service excellence.
  • Financial Oversight:
Manage operational and capital budgets, including water emergency breakdown and operational capex budgets. Prepare expenditure approvals and implement cost-saving initiatives.
  • Risk & Compliance:
Identify and communicate risks, ensuring mitigation plans are in place. Manage resolution of contractual issues and ensure all work orders comply with contract requirements.
  • Reporting & Analysis:
Provide comprehensive monthly reports on contract performance, budget status, and emergency water works trends. Utilise BI tools to improve data quality and contract performance analysis.
  • Training & Support:
Educate staff interacting with civil maintenance contractors on contract usage, system processes, and compliance requirements.

What we're looking for

  • Proven experience managing maintenance contracts, preferably in water or civil infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong understanding of contract management, budgeting, and KPI-driven performance.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead continuous improvement initiatives and work collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret performance data and implement strategies.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and environmental stewardship.
  • Experience with budget management including operational and capital expenditures.
