About us
We're on a mission to create a brighter future, where you can be a change maker at the actual source. We're one of Australia's largest water utilities with over 30% of Victoria's population relying on us for their essential water and sanitation services.

Our award-winning culture fosters an inclusive, collaborative, and flexible environment that enables our people to thrive. Here, you'll be inspired and challenged to grow alongside us.

We're committed to reconciliation and supporting the self-determined role for Traditional Owners/Custodians in water and land management.

The Role
As a key member of the Asset Delivery leadership team, you'll provide expert contract governance and administration for major water infrastructure projects delivered under Construct Only and Design & Construct (D&C) procurement models.

You'll act as Superintendent on large-scale projects (typically contract values greater than $20M), ensuring compliance with VicWater Major Works Contract or similar bespoke contracts, and driving successful outcomes across cost, time, quality, and safety.

Beyond project delivery, you'll play a critical role in building internal capability-mentoring project managers, developing tools and templates, and embedding best practice superintendency across the organisation.

Your leadership will foster a culture of collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement, ensuring our projects deliver real value for our customers and communities.

Your key responsibilities

  • Perform the role of Superintendent across 1-2 major project contracts concurrently
  • Administer contracts under Construct Only and/or Design & Construct models, including issuing directions, assessing variations, managing claims and dispute resolution
  • Ensure compliance with contract terms, including Risk Allocated Maximum Pricing (RAMP) provisions
  • Certify progress payments and ensure contractual deliverables (design submissions, ITPs, RFIs) are met
  • Mentor and coach project managers in best practice superintendency practices
  • Develop and maintain standardised tools, templates, and guidance materials for contract administration, to support consistent, compliant contract superintendency across the organisation.
  • Coordinate internal training and contribute to knowledge-sharing forums
  • Identify and manage contract risks, escalate issues, and collaborate with legal and commercial teams on high-risk matters
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OH&S, environmental, and quality obligations
  • Build strong and balanced relationships with contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders

What we're looking for

  • Significant experience as Superintendent or Superintendent's Representative on major infrastructure projects (contracts > $20M). Includes issuing directions, assessing progress and claims, maintaining accurate records and ensuring contract terms/ milestones are met in full.
  • Advanced knowledge of VicWater Major Works Contract, AS4000, or similar contract models
  • Strong understanding of contract law, claims management, and governance frameworks
  • Proven ability to mentor and develop others
  • Experience in developing and improving tools and processes to support project/ contract administration.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and dispute resolution skills, including proven experience in establishing and maintaining respectful and fair commercial contracting relationships
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Construction Management, Contract Law, or related field
  • Comfortable working in dynamic environments, including site visits and occasional out-of-hours work
  • Driver's Licence required
  • Water industry experience highly regarded
