About the role

The Senior Project Officer is central to the development and implementation of new Aboriginal cultural heritage protection legislation and other high priority programs. In this position you will:

  • Lead and contribute to the development, research, analysis and implementation of programs, policy, projects and legislation relating to the new Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Protection Act.
  • Liaise, consult and negotiate with other areas of Government and external stakeholders on policy and legislative development.
  • Represent the Department in discussions with interest groups, community groups, and other agencies.

We have two fixed term Senior Project Officer roles available for a period of two years.

Our ideal candidate has
  • Proven experience in project management, ideally within the public sector.
  • Demonstrated capacity to lead and coordinate complex projects with the ability to manage resources effectively.
  • Strong understanding of Aboriginal cultural heritage.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with excellent communication, consultation and interpersonal skills.
