Youth Off The Streets is a not-for-profit youth organisation that provides safety, support and opportunities for young people to build a positive future. We offer crisis accommodation and housing services, alternative high school education, alcohol and other drugs counselling, youth justice support, life skills and employment programs, cultural support and community engagement, among other services. We focus on early interventions that empower young people and strengthen communities.
Not all children and young people thrive in mainstream schools. Our registered and accredited independent high schools offer a flexible alternative for students in Years 9–12.
We operate six independent high schools that are registered and accredited with the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). Youth Off The Streets is also a member of the Association of Independent Schools of NSW (AISNSW).
About the role:
We’re seeking a passionate and experienced Lead Psychologist to join our Mental Health Team in a job share capacity, working Wednesday to Friday for a 12-month maternity leave cover. This part-time role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact while maintaining work-life balance.
You’ll provide clinical supervision, drive trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices, and contribute to the development of mental health programs that support students across our school sites.
Some key responsibilities of this role include:
Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to psychologists and counsellors
Deliver targeted training aligned with trauma-informed and culturally responsive care
Ensure quality assurance and compliance with ethical standards
Lead mental health program development and contribute to policy and reporting
Collaborate with the Education Executive Team on strategic initiatives
Qualifications & Expertise
Essential:
Registered Psychologist with AHPRA and Board Approved Supervisor status
Bachelor or postgraduate degree in Psychology
Minimum 5 years’ experience in youth or school-based settings
Proven experience supervising clinical staff and managing complex cases
Strong understanding of trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices
Commitment to Child Safe principles and ethical standards
Desired:
Experience working with First Nations students
Advanced training in CBT, DBT, or trauma-focused therapeutic approaches
Certifications & Licences
Current registration with NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA)
Working with children’s check, police check, valid driver’s licence
