About the Role:

As a Vehicle Spray Painter, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality paint finishes on vehicles, from preparation through to final inspection. You will be expected to match and mix colours accurately, apply coatings using spray equipment, and ensure all work complies with environmental and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Match and mix paint colours using spectrometers or manufacturer paint codes

Apply primers, basecoats, and clearcoats using spray guns in paint booths

Conduct surface preparation including sanding, masking, and cleaning

Perform final finishing, buffing, and polishing of painted surfaces

Inspect completed work to ensure finish meets visual and OEM standards

Maintain spray booth cleanliness and ensure proper waste disposal

Record paint usage and manage stock levels of materials and consumables

Assist in mentoring junior staff and apprentices

Follow all WHS protocols for chemical and equipment handling

Complete work in line with customer requirements and job cards

Skills and Experience Required:

Certificate III in Automotive Refinishing Technology (or equivalent trade qualification)

Previous experience in vehicle spray painting

Excellent attention to detail and colour-matching ability

Familiarity with modern spray techniques and paint products

Knowledge of Australian environmental and workplace safety standards

Ability to work independently and within a team
