This QLD State Department is delivering vital upgrades to ensure Queensland schools remain safe and secure learning environments. They are seeking a motivated Security Fencing Advisor to join their Infrastructure Services Division and support the delivery of the Security Upgrades Program.
As the Security Fencing Advisor, you will provide operational and specialist advice on security fencing projects across Queensland schools. You’ll undertake on-site scope development, prepare design documentation, and work closely with principals, contractors, and colleagues to ensure fencing projects meet school operational requirements and are delivered to a high standard.
Reporting to the Manager of the School Security work unit, you will play a key role in planning, developing, and supporting the delivery of capital works projects that improve safety and modernize facilities.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct on-site visits to schools to scope capital works security fencing projects.
- Develop clear and accurate scope of works documentation to support project delivery.
- Work with principals to ensure projects meet school operational requirements and departmental standards.
- Prepare and deliver documentation for contractors to undertake fence installation.
- Assist with planning, reporting, and analysis of project activities and outcomes.
- Contribute to the development of innovative solutions, policies, and best practices in school infrastructure and asset management.
- Maintain effective communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage operational issues to ensure projects are delivered on time and to expectations.
Successful candidate
- Experience in project scoping, documentation, and delivery, ideally within construction, facilities, or infrastructure.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively with school leaders, contractors, and project teams.
- The ability to analyze and present data to support reporting and decision making.
- Strong planning and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- A commitment to continuous improvement and promoting best practice.
Mandatory requirements
- Current valid Queensland Driver’s License.
- Willingness to travel throughout Queensland, including by plane and overnight stays.
- Capacity to walk moderate distances in outdoor environments and on uneven surfaces.
