THE POSITION:

The position of Manager City Assets is a key senior position within Fairfield City Council and reports directly to the Director City Assets.

The primary function of this role is to effectively coordinate the activities of the Asset Management Division as they relate to Civil and Built infrastructure, Open Space, Catchment Planning and Natural Resources and that the Asset Management System captures all relevant asset information including acquisitions and disposals.

The outcomes of the role include the prioritising of the needs of the community within the resources available to Council and ensuring that Council's services and infrastructure are provided in a sustainable manner with appropriate levels of service to residents, visitors and the environment.

ABOUT YOU:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business Management, Project Management, Engineering services or equivalent disciplines.
  • Highly developed people management skills with leadership qualities to lead a management team across a broad range of disciplines and service areas.
  • Proven skills in the development and implementation of strategic and business plans related to asset management of infrastructure and other built and natural assets.
  • Well-developed financial management and budgeting expertise.
  • Sound capabilities in the development of processes and systems within an operating environment related to asset management.
  • Proven ability to develop strategies for performance improvement, particularly in the provision of customer focused services
  • Skills and experience in successfully developing innovation in a business environment.
  • High level analytical skills including the ability to successfully negotiate/resolve complex issues across a broad range of disciplines and service areas and the ability to influence others to achieve agreed outcomes.

DESIRABLE:

  • Highly developed communication skills (oral and written) with the ability to present concise and accurate reports on all matters affecting the division's functions.
  • Sound knowledge of the requirements of accreditation of quality management systems in accordance with ISO 9000.
  • Understanding the machinations of government processes and policies.

SALARY & EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

  • Permanent position, 70 hours per fortnight
  • This position is a Grade 10, salary range is $137,998 p.a. with progression to $148,610 p.a. on demonstrated competencies, with performance progression to $161,648 p.a, plus superannuation
