Position: Graduate Business Development Engineer

Job Description:

Allegro Energy, a forward-thinking battery company located in Newcastle, Australia, is seeking a Graduate Business Development (BD) Engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting Allegro’s Executive Team and Business Development Manager identifying new business opportunities, developing relationships with potential clients, and expanding Allegro’s market presence. You will work closely with sales, marketing, and product teams to drive revenue growth through strategic partnerships, new client acquisition, and supporting grant applications.

Key Responsibilities (as part of Allegro’s BD team):

Identify and Develop New Business Opportunities:

Conduct market research to identify potential clients and industries for growth for both the Supercapacitor and Microemulsion Flow Battery product lines.

Generate leads through networking, cold calling, and other means.

Implement strategies for business growth and market expansion.

Document lead and customer communication.

Build New Client Relationships:

Support Allegro’s senior team in establishing and maintaining strong relationships with potential clients and stakeholders.

Understand client needs and provide tailored solutions to meet their business objectives.

Support Building New Sales Models:

Understand opportunities for new sales models including PPA’s and Licensing

Support BDM Negotiating and Closing Deals:

Prepare documentation required for the sales cycle, for example proposals, pricing, terms, and contract finalisation.

Communicate with legal and finance teams.

Support BDM closing deals to meet or exceed sales targets and contribute to the company’s revenue goals.

Collaborate with Internal Teams:

Work closely with the management and product team to align business development strategies with overall sales goals.

Coordinate with marketing to develop effective campaigns that attract new clients.

Provide feedback to the product development team based on client needs and market trends.

Monitor and Report on Market Trends:

Stay informed of industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies.

Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on market analysis.

Prepare and present regular reports on business development activities and outcomes.

Maintain Business Development Pipeline:

Implement direct and indirect lead generation processes.

Maintain an updated and accurate pipeline of business development activities using CRM software.

Track progress and ensure timely follow-up on all leads and opportunities.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

Experience: An undergraduate or graduate degree in business administration and a relevant discipline of engineering or sciences, or equivalent.

Skills:

Interest and/or experience in business development and client acquisition.

Strong commercial acumen.

Technical background to understand energy storage. For example an undergraduate degree in electrical (power) engineering.

Excellent communication and writing skills with the ability to be both technical and analytical.

Strategic thinking and ability to identify and act on business opportunities.

Be a strong team player that is passionate about being a part of a fast-moving and entrepreneurial company.

A passion for renewable energy.

Basic understanding of CRM software.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
