Holyoake is a leading provider of counselling and support services for people impacted directly and indirectly by alcohol, other drugs, and related mental health issues. We operate through five locations in Victoria Park, Midland, Northam, Narrogin and Merredin, and employ over 100 staff.
We are currently looking for an experienced Suicide Prevention Coordinator to join our dynamic, growing team in the Wheatbelt region. Reporting to the Prevention Services Manager, this role will be responsible for developing, implementing and supporting initiatives targeting suicide prevention and postvention activities, in partnership with key Wheatbelt stakeholders. As well as ensuring that local community responses to suicide prevention and postvention align with the WA Suicide Prevention Framework and its designated priorities areas. This role will be a fixed term, Full-Time contract until 30 June 2027.

Key responsibilities:
· Initiate, coordinate and support the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of suicide prevention and postvention activities at local, community and regional levels.
· Work in partnership with relevant government, non-government, ACCO and community service providers to facilitate the development and coordination of activities to address suicide prevention.
· Take a lead role in providing support to community groups to work at a local level to address identified suicide and suicidal behaviour.
· Contribute to suicide prevention priority setting and the planning of regional prevention and postvention programs.
· Work effectively with other service providers and stakeholders including, Police, local, State and Commonwealth Government and non Government representatives to ensure the diverse interests of the community are engaged.
· Manage, organise and provide training relating to suicide prevention and postvention with government and non-government, industry and community stakeholders.
· Identify and monitor trends and issues relating to suicide prevention and postvention in the Wheatbelt region and make recommendations to relevant stakeholders in applying this information.
· Liaise and work with relevant government and non-government service providers and community groups to identify local needs and priorities. ·
· Facilitate the development and on going support of appropriate partnerships to target suicide prevention and postvention at a local, community and regional/level.
Skills required:
· Experience/understanding of the theory and practice of community development/ injury prevention / health promotion.
· Experience/understanding of suicide prevention.
· Knowledge of the impacts of suicide on individuals, families and communities
· Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate community-based prevention and intervention initiatives.
· Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to consult, coordinate and liaise with a range of stakeholders in various contexts.
· Demonstrated experience in implementing, influencing and reviewing policies, strategies and procedures as they relate to public health issues.
Criteria for successful applicants:
· A tertiary qualification in health promotion, education, social science or approved equivalent.
· National Police Clearance, no more than three months old
· Current WA Driver’s Licence
· Current Working with Children Check
· Ability to travel extensively throughout the Wheatbelt region including overnight stays
