STEPS Group Australia is a respected national not-for-profit and Registered Training Organisation dedicated to creating opportunities and improving lives through education and community engagement. We are seeking a highly capable and motivated State Funding Coordinator to lead and grow our state-funded education and training programs across Queensland and Tasmania.

This newly created role offers the opportunity to drive strategic funding operations, ensure compliance, and contribute to the long-term sustainability of programs that make a real difference in regional communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage state-funded programs including Skills Assure, Skilling Queenslanders for Work (SQW), and Skills Tasmania
  • Coordinate contracts across multiple regions including Sunshine Coast, Wide Bay, Townsville, Cairns, and Tasmania
  • Ensure contractual compliance, accurate reporting, and timely submissions (monthly and quarterly)
  • Lead onboarding of new contracts and support site readiness (trainer recruitment, class scheduling, budget utilisation)
  • Identify and secure new funding opportunities across QLD and TAS
  • Collaborate closely with Regional Managers, Business Managers, and the Education & Training Compliance Manager
  • Maintain strong relationships with government departments and funding bodies
  • Travel to regional Queensland and Tasmania as required (typically quarterly)

Qualifications & Experience

We're looking for someone with a strong blend of strategic thinking, contract management, and stakeholder engagement. Ideally, you'll bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in business, finance, public administration, education, or related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple contracts and sites, ideally within education, government, or NFP sectors
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to manage budgets and KPIs
  • Experience in grant writing and sourcing new funding opportunities
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Familiarity with VET sector funding programs (desirable but not essential)
  • Proficiency in systems such as Wisenet and Moodle (or similar)

Applicants must have a current Driver Licence and the ability to obtain a National Police Clearance.
