About the Role

Tenure: Permanent, full-time

Industry, Science and Innovation collaborates with industry, government, research and innovation sectors to diversify the economy and create jobs through improved local industry capabilities and participation.

The Division of Science and Technology advances WA’s science capability and performance, and technology development, through building STEM talent, expanding critical research infrastructure and facilitating collaboration, research funding opportunities and science-based policy outcomes.

As the Principal Policy Officer you will play a crucial role leading the design, development and implementation of strategic policy, projects or programs related to science and scientific research as a part of the Science Capability and Partnerships team.

Some of the key responsibilities include:

  • Leading stakeholder engagement for strategic opportunities, funding requests and program design.
  • Preparing policy advice for the Minister for Science.
  • Managing the Science Capability and Partnerships budget and liaising with the finance team.
  • Proactively staying across trends and developments regarding scientific research.
