The Department is looking to establish a pool of experienced, talented professionals to fill a variety of roles across our Environmental Protection Authority division.

As Principal Environmental Officer, you’ll play a central role in assessing state-significant development proposals, providing expert scientific advice, and shaping environmental outcomes that matter. This is a unique opportunity to influence policy, guide strategic planning, and represent the department on key scientific and intergovernmental committees.

In this role, you’ll also mentor and support a team of Environmental Officers, helping them navigate challenging assessments and build their capabilities. Working closely with senior leadership, you’ll tackle urgent and contentious issues, lead improvement initiatives, and ensure assessments are robust, timely, and aligned with legislative frameworks. We currently have two exciting opportunities available within our Environmental Protection Authority Services (EPAS) directorate — one in Mining and Industrial South, and another in Iron Ore Assessments.
