About the Team

Operational Policy and Support teams work with stakeholders to develop policies and instructions for our regulatory staff, so we regulate in a way that drives improved aged care experiences for older Australians. Team members are talented and passionate about their work, we operate in a fast-paced environment and with a wide range of policy topics.

About the Role

The APS 5 Policy Officer works in a small, dispersed team and with internal stakeholders to research, develop, implement and improve policy, processes and templates. Along with APS 4 and 6 Policy officers, these positions are led by Assistant Directors.

Position duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage individual workload allocation of research and analysis to support the development and review of operational policy, processes and guidance material.
  • Under broad direction, using plain language and Commission frameworks, develop, review and update policy briefs, discussion papers, and internal operational policy and guidance.
  • Organise and record meetings, and prepare project documents and communications with policy stakeholders
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with team members and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support, guide and mentor APS4 policy officers.

Position Details

  • Salary offered will be between $86,204 - $93,226 per annum depending on skills and experience. In addition, 15.4% superannuation will be paid.

  • Non-ongoing opportunity will be offered for an irregular/intermittent term. Opportunities will be offered for varying periods up to 12 months with the option to extend to a total of 24 months.
  • Merit Pool established through this selection process may be used to fill this or future ongoing or non-ongoing vacancies.
  • Shortlisted applicants will be required to provide confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage.
