Alchemy Recruitment Consulting is partnering with a progressive local council to recruit a Contracts Coordinator – Waste & Recycling. This is a unique opportunity to step into a role where you’ll drive innovation, sustainability, and service delivery outcomes that directly benefit the community.

About the Role
In this position, you will lead and manage the city-wide waste and recycling contract services function, overseeing procurement strategies, tender development, contract management, and ensuring the effective administration of essential services. You’ll also manage customer service and administration teams, driving efficiency and high performance across the branch.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, procurement, and management of large-scale waste and recycling contracts (collection, haulage, processing, and disposal).
  • Deliver innovative waste reduction and recycling initiatives aligned with sustainability targets.
  • Oversee contractor performance, compliance, and financial accountability.
  • Manage administration and customer service functions to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships and represent Council in negotiations and meetings.
  • Mentor and develop teams in a customer-centric environment.

About You
You are a contracts management professional with extensive experience in the waste and recycling industry or a comparable large-scale logistics environment. You’re a natural leader with excellent stakeholder engagement skills and a proven ability to deliver innovative, forward-thinking solutions.

Requirements

  • Relevant qualification in Environmental Management, Engineering, Business, Procurement, or significant equivalent experience.
  • Proven track record in contract management and procurement in waste, recycling, or logistics services.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Current C Class Driver’s Licence.
  • Ability to meet employment-related background checks and vaccination requirements.
