About the opportunity
IFYS currently has an opportunity for a Housing Support Worker to join our adult Specialist Homeless Service.
The Housing Support Worker assists in the day-to-day service delivery of housing responses, which are accessed by individuals experiencing homelessness on the Sunshine Coast.
With direction from the Coordinator, this role will undertake a range of overnight, morning or afternoon shifts delivering support to residents of the program.

- Salary base $76,376.56 per annum pro rata for part-time + superannuation – IFYS is committed to gender pay equity

Key accountabilities:
- Provide information and advice, emotional and social support to address the welfare concerns of residents in housing crisis
- Maintain routines and complete tasks, to support a safe, healthy and therapeutic environment
- Work collaboratively as part of a multi-agency team, utilising the support of administrative staff, volunteers and onsite security in carrying out tasks
- Assist individuals to comply with the terms of their residence or overnight stay in homeless accommodation, taking compliance action as necessary
- Support individuals to access specialist supports and services as required
- Complete administrative tasks, including but not limited to, case noting, maintaining service user records, the completion of daily logs, and the provision of accurate and timely information
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Demonstrated professional experience working with homelessness or crisis accommodation services
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to manage crisis situations in a therapeutic manner
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills within a multi-disciplinary setting
- A Certificate IV or higher qualification in a relevant area of study is highly regarded
- Availability to work the fortnightly rostered shifts below.
Week 1: 8am to 5pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, 11am to 8pm Thursday
Week 2: 8am to 5pm Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, 11am to 8pm Thursday
Must hold or be willing to obtain if successful:
- Valid Queensland open driver's license with no restrictions, and own reliable transport
- QLD Working with Children Check (Paid Blue Card)
- Licensed Care Suitability Check (LCS2)
- National Criminal History Check (a new check will be conducted through IFYS systems)
