Gippsland Grammar is seeking a proactive and experienced Human Resources Manager to lead and manage the School’s HR function. This role is responsible for fostering a positive staff culture, ensuring compliance with employment legislation, and supporting the strategic direction of the School.
About the Role
The Human Resources Manager will oversee all aspects of HR operations, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compliance, and HR systems. Working closely with the Leadership Team and Business Manager, the successful candidate will provide expert advice, drive HR initiatives, and contribute to the development of a high-performing and engaged workforce.
This role is integral to maintaining a supportive and professional work environment aligned with Gippsland Grammar’s mission, vision, values, and strategic plan.
Key Responsibilities Strategic HR Leadership
- Provide expert HR advice and support to School leaders.
- Align staffing structures with the School’s strategic goals.
- Lead HR compliance, policy development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support enterprise bargaining and manage relationships with unions and staff committees.
Culture & Staff Development
- Promote a positive and inclusive staff culture.
- Coach and support managers in effective people leadership.
- Facilitate organisational change and staff engagement strategies.
- Lead performance and conduct management processes.
HR Operations & Administration
- Manage end-to-end recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding.
- Maintain HR systems, databases, and reporting tools.
- Oversee HR budgets, contracts, and visa requirements.
- Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders (e.g., WGEA, ABS).
Employee Relations
- Provide timely and accurate advice on employment law and industrial instruments.
- Resolve workplace grievances through mediation and conflict resolution.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and HR risk management.
About You
You are a confident and capable HR professional with a strong generalist background and a passion for building positive workplace culture. You bring strategic insight, operational excellence, and a collaborative approach to leadership.
Essential Criteria:
- Demonstrated experience in HR leadership, including recruitment, employee relations, and compliance.
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation, industrial instruments, and HR best practices.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport.
- High-level organisational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in HR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Tertiary qualifications in HR or a related field.
