Seeking Assistant Manager - Leopold Downs/Fairfield Station

Leopold Downs/Fairfield Station is seeking a hands-on Assistant Manager for 2026. Leopold/Fairfield is in the heart of the Kimberley, Western Australia, 80kms the West of Fitzroy Crossing and 400kms East of Broome.

Leopold/Fairfield is under the management of Pardoo Wagyu Corporation and is fortunate to have spectacular scenery such as Tunnel Creek and Windjana Gorge nearby.

Leopold/Fairfield is a wagyu breeder property which utilises horses and two-wheel motorbikes to coacher muster. We adhere to best management principles, where caring for our people, our livestock and the land we manage are all part of the Pardoo Wagyu culture.

Assistant Station Manager Role:

The applicant must present solid cattle and station experience, with a minimum of 2 years in a head stockman role or higher.

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate:

- High standard of horsemanship and cattlemanship.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively manage and coordinate with staff and management.

- Willing and able to work alongside the team on the ground, performing senior stock work as part of a hands-on Assistant Manager role.

- Be aware of and implement industry health and safety procedures.

- Sound record keeping skills – recording cattle numbers and movements.

- To be organised, motivated and have a good work ethic.

- Ability to attend to and oversee repairs and maintenance tasks including fencing, yards, watering points and machinery.

- Will be required to camp out at times.

Must have:

- Current Drivers’ Licence

- HR Licence or (ability to obtain one)

- Demonstrated experience in livestock handling

- Competent and experienced on horseback and motorbike

- Physically fit and capable for station work

- Proven ability to lead and supervise a team

- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a head stockman role or higher
