GPH’s mission is to provide equitable heath care with an emphasis on helping vulnerable and at risk of disadvantage populations as well as regional communities. GPH employs over 400 staff including many qualified health and other professionals including peer workers and community workers. GPH operations cover a large regional geographical footprint in NSW and ACT. About the position The Community Resilience and Engagement Officer leads the planning, implementation, delivery and evaluation of mental health promotion initiatives in parts of the Murrumbidgee and Snowy Valleys regions (with a focus on the areas east and north east of Wagga, in communities such as Tumut, Batlow, Gundagai, Crookwell and out to Yass. The role involves engaging with the community to design health promotion initiatives and mental health skill-building activities that contribute to improved health for the communities they work with. This is a full-time opportunity, fixed term until 30th June 2027. Full time positions have the option for a Rostered Day Off each month. We are looking for someone with:
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and/or extensive experience in community development, health promotion, public health, social sciences, or education.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and communicate effectively with groups, including public speaking and tailoring communication to diverse audiences.
- Strong understanding of the health and wellbeing needs of people with mental health and/or substance use issues or experiencing adversity.
- Awareness of the needs of diverse communities including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, Multicultural, and LGBTIQA+ communities.
