Key Responsibilities

1. Operations & Compliance

Oversee daily site operations including fuel sales, shop, and food service.

Ensure compliance with all workplace safety (OH&S), EPA fuel storage and handling, and food safety standards.

Manage stock control, ordering, receiving, and inventory systems.

Monitor and manage cash handling, banking, and point-of-sale reconciliation.

Conduct regular audits and inspections for safety, compliance, and quality.

2. Staff Leadership & Development

Recruit, train, roster, and supervise site staff.

Lead, motivate, and develop team members to deliver excellent service.

Ensure staff compliance with uniform, service standards, and safe work practices.

Manage performance issues, conflict resolution, and disciplinary matters where necessary.

3. Customer Service

Maintain high standards of customer service and satisfaction.

Handle escalated customer complaints and resolve issues professionally.

Ensure the site is clean, well-presented, and welcoming at all times.

4. Financial Performance

Achieve sales, margin, and profitability targets.

Manage site budgets, cost control, and expense reporting.

Analyse sales data, identify trends, and implement promotions to increase revenue.

5. Health, Safety & Environment

Implement and monitor site safety systems including hazardous goods handling.

Ensure emergency procedures (fuel spills, fire, first aid) are in place and tested.

Promote a culture of safety awareness among staff and customers.

Key Skills & Attributes

Strong leadership and people management skills.

Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

Knowledge of retail, food safety, and petroleum industry standards.

Financial acumen with ability to interpret P&L and sales reports.

Strong organisational and multitasking skills.

Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, nights, and public holidays.

Qualifications & Experience

Previous management experience in fuel industry.

Food Safety Supervisor certification (or willingness to obtain).

First Aid and Fire Safety training (advantageous).

Understanding of WorkSafe Victoria and EPA compliance requirements.

Performance Indicators

Achievement of sales and profitability targets.

Staff retention, training completion, and compliance.

Site audit and safety compliance scores.

Customer service satisfaction levels.

Efficiency of stock, cash, and expense management.
