About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Flavours, the Quality Control Analyst is responsible for ensuring flavours meet strict quality standards through analytical, sensory, and compliance testing.
This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate documentation, investigating deviations, supporting regulatory requirements, and driving quality initiatives that uphold the company’s reputation for excellence.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Perform analytical, sensory, organoleptic, and visual quality checks on flavour products and accurately record results.
- Conduct flavour tastings, assess outcomes, and approve or reject inspection results.
- Maintain up-to-date testing methods, analysis protocols, and work instructions.
- Create, document, and investigate non-conformities and communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain product specifications, storage, and handling requirements.
- Investigate quality and equipment deviations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Perform daily equipment calibrations, checks, and record maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with quality procedures, OH&S, and regulatory standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to ensure products are dispatched “right first time.”
- Provide proactive support across the quality team and collaborate with internal departments.
Experience & Qualifications
- Degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Food Science, Pharmacy, or a related field.
- 5+ years’ experience in quality, food science, or flavour analysis, ideally within the food and beverage industry.
- Advanced knowledge of food chemistry and flavour evaluation (olfactory and gustatory).
- Experience with physicochemical analyses such as density, refractive index, and gas chromatography.
- Strong understanding of chemical properties, classifications, hazards, and safe handling practices.
- Highly analytical with proven problem-solving ability and strong attention to detail.
- Skilled in instrument calibration, operation, and troubleshooting.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain findings clearly.
- Organised, proactive, and able to prioritise tasks independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to OH&S and continuous learning, with a positive, team-focused attitude.
