We’re seeking a proactive Health, Safety and Wellbeing Officer (HSWO) to support our Health, Safety and Environment Manager. This key role coordinates injury management, drives early intervention, and contributes to creating a positive, safe, and respectful work culture across all sites.
What You’ll Be Doing
Injury Management & Return-to-Work
- Coordinate workers' compensation and non-compensation injury cases.
- Liaise with employees, managers, and external providers to support safe and sustainable return-to-work outcomes.
- Maintain accurate, confidential case records and implement early intervention strategies.
Employee Wellbeing
- Promote and coordinate wellbeing initiatives and campaigns.
- Drive awareness and use of the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and mental health support services.
Workplace Safety (WHS)
- Assist with incident investigations, reporting, inspections, and risk assessments.
- Support WHS Committee activities and contribute to policy and system improvements.
- Analyse WHS incident data to identify patterns and recommend prevention strategies.
- Participate in safety audits, site inspections, and implementation of hazard controls.
Education & Communication
- Assist in developing and delivering training programs and safety resources.
- Prepare safety reports, guidance materials, and contribute to internal safety communications.
What You’ll Bring
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Qualification in Occupational Health, Injury Management, Allied Health, or a related field.
- Practical knowledge of Workers Compensation and WHS legislation (ACT/NSW).
- Demonstrated experience in injury management and return-to-work coordination.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills, with a professional and empathetic approach.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and incident/injury management systems.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Experience managing physical and psychological injury cases.
- Background in the aged care, healthcare, or complex service delivery sectors.
- Certificate IV in WHS or equivalent.
- Mental Health First Aid or similar qualifications.
Skills & Attributes
- Strong administrative and data management skills.
- Ability to prepare detailed reports and maintain safety-related databases.
- Capacity to build strong relationships and influence across all levels of the organisation.
- Clear written communication for reports, correspondence, and safety documentation.
