Approach Consulting have been retained by a Melbourne HQ'd boutique specialist firm in corporate and commercial law to find a Partner to join their growing firm. There is an opportunities for candidates to be Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Canberra based.

Our client has acted at the cutting edge of innovation research and technology for the last 30 years, assisting Australian innovators in bringing their technologies to the world. Over the last 3 years, this firm has contributed to deals that have generated over $2 billion for the Australian economy. The firm is going from strength to strength, having doubled generated revenue within the last 5 years. HQ’d in Melbourne CBD, the firm also has a Canberra office servicing significant Federal Government clients.

With expertise across Commercial/Corporate, Regulatory and Compliance, Information Technology, Intellectual Property and Construction across a range of industries, our client is well positioned to continue it’s growth trajectory and offer a dynamic, tailored partnership opportunity for a high-performing Special Counsel or an established Partner located in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane or Canberra.

What’s on offer.
The firm currently has 2 equity partners and 7 salaried partners, with the scope of equity becoming available within the next 18 – 24 months as the current partners look to retire from the firm.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced practitioner with a transportable commercial focused practice to:

• Lead and grow a portfolio of high-value clients across both private and government clients
• Work collaboratively with a talented and collegiate team of lawyers who are passionate about innovation, social impact, and legal excellence
• Play a pivotal role in strategic firm leadership, business development, and client relationship management
• Have access to real autonomy, hybrid working arrangements, and strong operational support to focus on delivering outstanding legal outcomes

Tailored remuneration options are available depending on your requirements and practice. The firm will consider:

• Salaried partnership options (typically 1/3 of your expected practice value)
• Percentage based package from billings (eg 50% of billings direct to you, 50% of billings to the firm) while splitting costs of your team.

About you.
We’re looking for someone who is:

• A seasoned corporate/commercial lawyer with 10+ years’ post-admission experience, ideally at Special Counsel or Partner level with proven ability to build a practice.
• Entrepreneurial and commercially savvy, with a strong referral network or portable client base.
• Experienced in working with high-growth companies, founders, or mission-driven organisations.
• Seeking a more agile, values-driven environment with real partnership and equity potential.
