About the Business

Our Closing the Gap Policy and Transformation team provides strategic policy advice and drives the transformational change required to implement the National Agreement on Closing the Gap within DHS and ultimately improve life outcomes for Aboriginal peoples, their families and communities.

Role Details

The Senior Policy Manager role within Community and Aboriginal Partnerships and is accountable to the Director, Closing the Gap Policy and Transformation for:

Leading the partnering with the Department’s business units as the key lead for embedding the four Closing the Gap Priority Reforms, building staff and the Department’s capability to partner, co-design, transform and overcome the inequities faced by Aboriginal peoples and communities.

Providing high-level written and strategic advice, analysis on proposals, reports, policy, programs and research that affects Aboriginal people and services under Closing the Gap.

Leading, monitoring and reporting on Closing the Gap progress and coordinating the Department’s Closing the Gap internal and external reporting responsibilities in a timely manner.

Building key working relationships across Aboriginal communities, Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisations and government and non-government stakeholders.

Participating and representing the directorate on key internal and external committees, forums and working groups.
