We are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Policy Officer to provide expert policy and legislative advice relating to coastal management and protection issues in South Australia. The role will work closely with the Coast Protection Board, coastal councils, Landscape Boards, and other key stakeholders in the review, development, delivery and management of coastal policy and projects. This role will make a significant contribution to the setting strategic policy direction for management and protection of the State's coastal environment.

Essential Criteria (including qualifications)
Experience in developing and managing policy initiatives (including strategies and plans), making sound policy judgments, and providing policy advice in a sensitive, critical and complex environment.
Demonstrated ability to write fluently and accurately for a range of audiences conveying complex information in a way that the reader will easily understand its message.
Demonstrated ability to assimilate and interpret large amounts of complex policy and technical information, draw out themes, identify issues and gaps and translate this into policy initiatives and advice.
Experience in engaging with, and maintaining effective networks and working relationships with colleagues from other government agencies and key stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to take initiative, be a self-starter.
Demonstrated understanding of key risks and implications of the information being analysed and ability to mitigate and manage those risks.
Desirable criteria
An appropriate degree/qualification in public policy, coastal management, natural resources management or related discipline is highly desirable.
A postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline is highly desirable.
A sound understanding of coast and marine policy and practice in South Australia is highly desirable.
