Western Local Land Service (LLS) is seeking an enthusiastic Biosecurity Support Officer to deliver frontline activities as part of the 2025/26 Feral Pig and Pest Project (FPPP) in the Broken Hill area.

About the role

This role focuses on on-ground delivery of pest animal management programs, with a strong emphasis on controlling feral pig populations and other priority pests. As part of the FPPP team, you will:

  • Conduct field operations to reduce the impact of feral pigs and other invasive species
  • Assist with surveillance, compliance, and control programs
  • Work directly with landholders, community groups, and partner agencies to deliver coordinated pest management activities
  • Support emergency biosecurity responses and contribute to recovery programs when required

Every day brings something different — from monitoring feral pig activity to supporting landholders in implementing best-practice control measures.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for motivated, practical, and adaptable individuals who enjoy hands-on fieldwork. You will bring:

  • Knowledge and/or qualifications in agriculture, biosecurity, pest management, or natural resource management
  • Experience with pest animal management and safe use of pesticides (or willingness to gain this knowledge)
  • Capacity to obtain and maintain a NSW Firearms Licence and relevant Statement of Attainment for humane animal destruction (AHCVPT203A, AHCPMG304)
  • Current NSW Driver Licence and the ability to work flexibly across the region
