VEHiQA is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with a strong background in electronics and metal fabrication (Mechatronics), preferably holding RPEQ registration, who is motivated to design and integrate advanced vehicle solutions for emergency services and large fleet clients.
The Role
As a Senior Vehicle Production Engineer, you will:
Lead and contribute to the design and installation of automotive electronic and mechanical systems, including CANBUS vehicle platforms.
Collaborate with a skilled team to develop in-house engineering solutions and ensure projects meet technical and compliance requirements.
Prepare and maintain documentation including specifications, schematics, and technical design files.
Deliver innovative and scalable production outcomes across a diverse range of vehicle projects.
This role offers the opportunity to work across varied, challenging assignments while enjoying the flexibility of a 9-day fortnight, supporting strong work-life balance.
Required Skills & Experience
Relevant engineering degree (RPEQ registration strongly preferred).
Minimum 5+ years’ post-qualification experience in vehicle engineering or a related role.
Proven expertise in:
Vehicle loom design/installation.
Integration of mechanical and electrical assemblies.
Automotive electronics, power systems, fusing, and radio requirements.
Producing layout drawings, schematics, and technical instructions.
Diagnosing and resolving issues in modern automotive electrical systems.
Fabrication of custom mechanical brackets/mounts using workshop tools.
Demonstrated ability to manage project timelines and deliver production-ready solutions.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a customer-focused mindset.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Excel) and familiarity with Microsoft BI tools.
Desirable Attributes
Experience with 3D CAD design (Autodesk Inventor or AutoCAD).
Knowledge of CANBUS wiring and component standards.
Interest in vehicle maintenance, modification, and new technology.
Strong documentation and reporting skills.
Personal Qualities
Team-oriented, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Able to work independently, taking ownership of tasks.
Skilled at managing multiple projects concurrently.
Innovative problem-solver with a practical, solutions-driven mindset.
Ability to mentor and train
Holds a current Australian driver’s licence.
