Settlers Village are seeking a hands-on Gardening Team Leader to support our team in delivering high-quality grounds and garden maintenance within our Retirement Village community. This is a full-time role, offering an excellent opportunity to work within a collaborative team. Settlers Village is located in Estella, a short drive from Wagga Wagga.

Your day to day

Manage and coordinate day to day grounds operations, ensuring tasks are completed on time, within budget and to quality standards

Being a friendly face to the residents as you work around the village

Perform routine garden maintenance and care tasks such as mowing, pruning, planting, weeding, watering, fertilising and mulching to maintain healthy gardens

Identify plant health issues & apply appropriate treatments

Provide direction, coaching and support to small garden team

Daily supervision of staff, ensuring clear communication of complex instructions and procedures for full understanding and effective implementation

Ensure safety and compliance across your team

Conduct site assessments, inspecting gardens, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives

Ensure regular preventative maintenance is conducted on plant and equipment to keep them in optimal working condition

Operate a full range of equipment

Provide a helping hand (if required) with basic maintenance tasks during periods of staff leave. No maintenance experience necessary.

Skills / Attributes

Strong previous experience in garden maintenance, horticulture, or related field.

Sound knowledge of plant care, soil types, weed and pest management as well as gardening techniques.

Previous experience leading and managing a team

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with your fellow colleagues and residents

Excellent time management skills to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines

Strong attention to detail and a passion for creating visually appealing landscapes

Excellent problem solving and organisational skills

Flexibility and reliability

Qualifications & Experience

Cert III Horticulture

Current First Aid required, or willing to obtain

National Police Check, or willing to obtain

A current Class 'C' Driver's Licence and reliable vehicle
