We are currently searching for a Studio Accountant for our Canberra Studio. This is a permanent part time position - 25 hours per week.
About the role:
The Studio Accountant works closely with the local Directors and the National Finance Team to provide support in Financial Accounting & Reporting, Project & Revenue Management, and relevant management activities as required. The Studio Accountant will manage and oversee the work of the Studio Finance Officer and mentor them in their role.
Responsible for:
Financial Accounting & Reporting
Manage end-to-end bookkeeping— AP, AR, leave entitlement, payroll & timesheets.
Preparation of monthly management reports, P&L, reconciliations, and forecasts.
Perform all intercompany accounting tasks between the Australian and New Zealand entities.
Assist with review of assets as part of year-end processes.
Project & Revenue Management
Manage project-based accounting, evaluating project profitability and providing accurate project-level forecasts to support decision-making and resource planning.
Assist Finance Director with debtor review, and ad-hoc projects as required.
Experience:
3+ years’ experience in management or financial accounting, including forecasting. At least 1-2 years’ experience in a similar role within Architecture or similar field preferred but not essential.
Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to adapt, prioritize, and work effectively across two business entities.
Collaborative team player with strong communication skills and relationship-building ability.
Willingness to learn and take on new tasks to contribute to studio operations.
Strong work ethic—self-motivated, conscientious with a positive attitude
Ability to work under pressure, multi-task, and manage time effectively to meet deadlines
Qualifications:
Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or already hold visa providing full rights to work in Australia.
Degree qualified in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CA/CPA desirable)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, strong Excel skills.
Deltek VantagePoint or similar ERP experience preferred but not essential
