Sunstate Electrical are highly respected specialists in the maintenance and commissioning of high voltage substations for both utility and private sector customers.

We are a Brisbane based company, delivering high voltage services throughout Queensland, rural Australia and Asia Pacific.

We are seeking a qualified electrical engineer or suitably qualified technician to join our team, working within the generation and distribution networks and mining sectors.

The role will entail work outside of South East Queensland approximately 160 working days per annum (predominantly Monday to Friday) with all expenses covered (airfares, airport parking, travel time, meals, and accommodation). The remainder of your time will be spent within South East Queensland.

What you'll be doing:

On site testing and commissioning of protection and control relays as well as programming and setting changes

Maintenance and fault finding on existing equipment

Understanding of electrical protection systems, including line protection, transformer protection, generator protection, busbar protection, motor protection and feeder protection

Interpretation of High Voltage protection systems schematic diagrams

Proficient in the use of Omicron and Doble test equipment and software to carry out secondary injection testing

Experience with SEL, ABB, Schneider, GE, Areva, Siemens relays and software

Primary injection testing of circuit breakers, current transformers, voltage transformers, bus zone differential, transformer differential and earth fault systems

Development of ITPs

Completion of test sheets and commissioning reports

There is no requirement with this position to manage projects or commissioning activities.

Required qualifications and experience:

Minimum of 5 years’ experience commissioning and testing HV secondary protection schemes

Engineering qualification (degree or advanced diploma) or electrical trade qualifications with suitable experience

General Construction Induction course (blue/white card)

Driver Licence.

Desirable qualification/experience:

Current membership with Engineers Australia

Electrical Fitter/Mechanic with a current Queensland Electrical Licence

Current CPR and LV rescue training

High Voltage switching certificate.
