A security focussed start up is looking for a senior python developer to come and lead a team of 4 devs working on the backend side. The start up has recently gone through a successful round of seed funding so has the cash to implement some of their ideas now. You can be part of that, leaving your mark on the company. They're at that sweet spot of being small enough to be heard by the bosses but also with enough cash to make ideas reality.

The role is essentially 50/50 split between being hands on keyboard and running the team / helping customers. You'd be helping customers on their user journey, working out what they need and want and turning that into something concreate with the rest of your team.

The company is one we know well, having placed someone there recently. They're a tight knit bunch, despite being from all over the country and do try and catch up quarterly. they're all passionate about all kinds of tech, how it works and how to keep us all safe when using it. If you're a technical person at heart this will be a place full of like minded people.

Tasks:

• Design and deliver scalable backend systems using Python and cloud-native tools.
• Make key architectural decisions and champion engineering best practices.
• Explore how AI and MCPs can supercharge automation across massive device fleets.
• Build and maintain cloud-first solutions using Microsoft Azure.
• Work closely with Product, Security, QA, and Ops to deliver high-impact features.
• Continuously improve performance, reliability, and developer experience.

Requirements:

• Python development experience.
• Experience leading Agile teams in a fast-evolving product environment
• Strong experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred, but AWS/GCP or experience in a large internal organisation welcome).
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems.
• A passion for clean code, scalable systems, and continuous improvement.
• Curiosity about AI, automation, and orchestration at scale.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• A proactive mindset — you spot opportunities, not just problems.
