As a permanent AO7 Principal Policy Officer, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering complex and high value policy projects that support the department's strategic agenda. Your work will contribute directly to work that shapes Queensland's economic and regional development, with a focus on resources, manufacturing, land administration and rural communities.

On any given day, you may be analysing emerging issues that impact the department's policy direction, leading research into economic policy challenges, or preparing high-level submissions for consideration by the Director-General, Minister or other senior decision-makers. You'll use your judgement and expertise to provide clear, evidence-based advice on matters that often involve competing priorities and significant political, social and economic implications.

You'll build and sustain strong relationships with colleagues across government, industry and community sectors to ensure policy outcomes reflect diverse needs and opportunities. This includes negotiating solutions, managing consultation processes, and representing the department in high-level discussions that shape reform and service delivery.

Your ability to communicate complex issues simply and persuasively will be critical.
You'll draft reports, briefing notes, speeches and presentations that are accurate, timely and tailored for senior audiences. You'll also manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing deadlines with the need for quality outcomes that align with government priorities.

As part of the Reform Strategy & Delivery Office, you'll be working in a small but high-performing team directly linked to the Director-General. This close alignment provides you with visibility of whole-of-government priorities and the opportunity to influence policy outcomes at the highest level.

To apply, please submit:
• A copy of your current resume (3-4 pages recommended), detailing your previous work, voluntary or relevant experience, and two referees.
• A brief cover letter (1-2 pages), introducing yourself to the panel and showcasing your skills, knowledge, attributes and experience regarding how you can make a valuable contribution to the department.
