The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking an Project Manager to provide a critical role within the Security and Intelligence unit.
About the Business Unit
The Security and Intelligence Division is responsible for the acquittal of several key strategic functions within Corrections Victoria, including Security Risk Management, Electronic Monitoring, Correctional Emergency Response, Emergency Management, including exercising plans and contingencies, and Intelligence.
The Security Standards Unit (SSU) is responsible for several of these strategic functions, which are focused on security risk management, physical security, annual procedural security reviews, schematic plans, and state-wide locksmith services, as well as maintaining a range of policy documents. The SSU is responsible for monitoring the minimum-security requirements for all prisons and secure locations and ensuring that the standards are reviewed regularly. The unit also provides assistance, advice and support to Corrections Victoria regarding Security, Security Risk Management, Fire Response and Emerging Technology.
About the Role
- Manages a range of high level operational and strategic matters and projects.
- Operates within a complex and dynamic environment that requires the capacity to exercise sound judgement, provide high level advice and deliver effective and timely actions.
- Provides a range of administrative and budgetary support functions to the unit.
- Oversees Corrections Victoria's radio network, infrastructure and contract.
Some of your duties will include:
- Manage the delivery of various high-level and complex operational and strategic projects related to the SSU's responsibilities.
- Assist in delivering and managing complex projects in other Security and Intelligence Division business units as required.
- Prepare high-level briefing papers, complex correspondence, and proposals on various issues in a time-pressured environment.
- Provide high-quality, authoritative and strategic advice to, and on behalf of the General Manager, SSU on complex and sensitive issues.
- Resolve complex and sensitive issues with system-wide impact involving several stakeholders and requiring integrated solutions.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated understanding and operational knowledge of the corrections system and the key issues impacting Corrections Victoria.
- Ability to manage and deliver complex projects in a correctional environment
- High-level knowledge of DJCS and Corrections Victoria's budgetary and financial management, and expertise in brief writing and administration skills.
Qualifications/requirements
- A relevant qualification in Project management would be advantageous
